Boiling Springs, PA
June 4th, 2016
Rain or shine, on June 4th, more than 100 juried craftsmen and artists will showcase their wares along the west side of Children’s Lake at the 30th Annual Foundry Day Arts & Crafts Festival. At this free event in the village of Boiling Springs just outside of Carlisle, handmade jewelry, photography, fine art, pottery, furniture, decorative painting, leather work, enameling, woodworking, metalwork, doll sculptures, and fiber art will be among the unique treasures for sale. Throughout the day, artisans will demonstrate glass blowing, leatherwork, broom making and other crafts.

Food concessions along Third Street will have mouth-watering favorites and new offerings. Along with funnel cakes, gourmet sausages, crab cakes, fresh fruit, braided pretzels, apple dumplings, and blooming onions, attendees can indulge themselves with stone oven pizza, beef sandwiches, venison burgers, specialty teas, pulled pork, kettle corn and much more.
Entertainment includes music by the local band Jack’s Back, and guided walking tours of the historic area. On the east side of Children’s Lake, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy hosts events for kids and families. “Fly High on the Appalachian Trail” features a variety of hands-on workshops and presentations by the Shavers Creek Environmental Center’s Traveling Naturalist program on birds of prey native to the area. This will also be the site of the annual Sleeping Bag races and kid-friendly crafts. Times for entertainment will be posted on sandwich boards throughout the festival and on Twitter (@foundryday).
In conjunction with Foundry Day, the Letort Quilters will have their biannual quilt show at the Yellow Breeches Middle School, featuring demonstrations, exhibits, and quilts of all colors and sizes for sale. This year’s raffle quilt, “Summer Splendor,” was sewn, designed and assembled by members of the guild. Raffle tickets for the 95 x 95 inch quilt and other smaller quilts will be sold during the show. Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets are divided between Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland and Perry Counties and the LeTort Quilters Education Fund.
Free parking and shuttles will be available from Boiling Springs High School. Handicapped parking will be located on the east side of Second Street.
Foundry Day is sponsored by the Foundry Day Committee, Inc. with the Boiling Springs Civic Association and the Yellow Breeches Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. The show runs from 9 AM to 4 PM, rain or shine.
