Stephanie has been the goldcrafter in the Goldcrafter’s Corner, now at 35 N. Hanover in Carlisle, for 34 years. She was a jewelry major at Plattsburgh SUNY, but took her BA from Mansfield University.
She is always an artist, in whatever medium, but the particular possibilities of jewelry making fascinate her, and creating unique and original pieces that will be forever one of a kind has been her passion. She feels strongly that jewelry is one of the best ways to convey personal style. It’s like a tattoo that you can take off, or change with your mood. It can be a statement, an accent, a prayer, a symbol. It can be a connection with the past– she enjoys the challenge of working with customers, creating pieces that will be special to them, integrating their ideas, their gold and stones– whether it’s grandmother’s diamond or a pebble off the beach. She is a fabricating smith, working directly with the metal, sometimes in very sculptural ways, and she likes to design pieces with a twist, like pendants that can be worn on either side, or with other options.
